It's Pool Time!

The high in Little Rock tomorrow is a hot 92 degrees, so thoughts of relaxing by or in a pool are swirling inside my head. But the pool I'm really talking about is for the delivery date. So, take your pick. Some days are already taken, as you'll see below. I haven't figured out a prize for the winner yet, so feel free to offer your suggestions on that as well!

Brant - he's sticking with June 23rd

My dad - June 12th

My mom - June 15th

Jenny - June 17th

Me - June 20th

Oh and Gulley is now officially ready for summer, as you can see in the picture below!!!

Mental Preparedness

I had a doctor's appointment Thursday. Just a regular appointment. Fill the cup, get weighed, check blood pressure, measure belly, listen for heartbeat and ask the doc any questions. No big deal. I was mentally prepared for it.
Unfortunately, I was not mentally prepared for the second half of the appointment. Turns out, Thursday's appointment was the first of the "EXAM" appointments! So when the nurse casually mentioned that I would be getting an exam, I smiled and immediately started sweating. I tried to relax as I waited in the room for the doctor, but I wasn't too successful. You see, I thought these appointments weren't starting until next week. Brant was going to be there with me. I was going to be mentally prepared.
But on Thursday, I was not. After the doc left the room, I was sweating, shaking and pretty much just freaking out. I've noticed this huge bump on my body, but this was the first time I think reality hit that I was HAVING A BABY!!

We're Ready!

Ok, not really. With the exception of one or two things, the nursery is complete. We have the car seat locked and loaded. The stroller sits on go. So technically, we are ready for this baby.

Then there's the realization that this is something you can never be completely ready for. And I guess that's part of the fun. Sure, it causes some anxiety and maybe a little doubt creeps in about the kind of parents we are going to be, but overall, it's just exciting!

Just a quick life update- up until today, I've been really busy. Aside from all the baby preparation, there's the whole job thing that I have to attend to. And grad school. And six annoying undergrad hours of British Literature... ugh. But last week, a lot of those pressures lifted. Grad school ended for the Spring semester. One of my Brit Lit classes drew to a close and the Seniors that I teach had their last day of school on Friday. So now I have more time to focus on this pregnancy. I'm not sure yet if that's a good thing or a bad thing!!
