Napping with Mommy
I recently found this picture on my phone and I'm posting it for two reasons. First, it has me in it. Since I'm usually the one taking pictures, there aren't many with me and either of the girls. And two, it reminds me of happy times. See that smile on my face? Annie was probably only two weeks old in this picture and I could bet she slept cuddled up next to me for the next two hours after this picture was taken. Since then, she has come down with a cold that has left a nagging cough. She might have a bit of reflux. And two hour naps just don't seem to be her thing.

Getting Out
When McKenzie was born, I don't think we left the house for weeks. I'm not sure what we were afraid of, other than EVERYTHING. With baby number two, things are a bit different. I've tried to get out as much as possible with Annie, even if it's just a quick and easy errand or a walk down the street. On this particular day, we headed down to the creek for McKenzie to throw rocks, a favorite pastime of hers. She felt like a pretty awesome big sister as she strolled Annie down the street for me.
Headed to the creek. |
For the record, pastime is a really weird word. I had to google it to figure out how to spell it and even now, I'm not convinced it's correct.

Snow Day... Sort Of
We had just a bit more than a dusting of snow today, but it was enough to get this girl excited. After a night of very little sleep, Annie decided to take a long nap this morning which was perfect timing to allow McKenzie and I to enjoy the snow. Once I opened the blinds and showed her it was snowing, she immediately wanted to go outside. I could tell she was excited because she, for once, didn't fight me on a single thing I asked her to wear. I just told her she had to wear it because it was snowing and she let me put it on her. Amazing.
So, we bundled up and headed outside. She yelled "snow day," sampled a few bites, slipped and fell a time or two and then decided to head back to the warm indoors just before the wet snow turned into sleet. All in all, a perfect snow day outing!
